--intercalary month; supernumerary month; this artifice is occasionally required to tally the solar year with the lunar year; it takes 365.25 days for the Earth to go around the Sun; It takes 29.5 days for the Moon to go around the Sun; In 12 months this amounts to 354 days. The difference of 11.25 days needs to be accounted for to synchronize the lunar calendar and the Solar calendar; This is done by adding two lunar months every 5 years; these added months are called intercalary months; Where are these months added? It is added to the month (in the lunar calendar) when the Sun did not move from one asterism to the next. The first of these is called అంహస్పతి and the second is called అధికమాసం;
